Prolotherapy Treatment For Chronic Pain
Prolotherapy is a popular non-surgical chronic pain treatment that promotes the growth and formation of ligament tissue in areas of the body that have become weak. It involves the injection of a sugar water solution, that sometimes contain vitamins and minerals, into the weak tendon or ligament where the chronic pain is located. This causes inflammation in the weakened area that stimulates the tissue to repair itself by increasing blood supply and nutrients to the area of treatment.
Prolotherapy is considered a very natural form of chronic pain treatment because what it essentially does in stimulate the body’s healing system. At this point , the body takes care of itself the way it naturally would.
The ligament and tendon tissue that form as a result of this treatment tend to be approximately 40% stronger than normal tissue.
